Training Battalion

About

The Training Battalion is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and managing all aspects of our Fire-Rescue Training and Certification processes. The Training Battalion is staffed by a Battalion Chief who is  supported by two Lieutenants and a Business Support Specialist. The Training Lieutenants perform the duties of Shift Training or Certification Officers.

All LFRA personnel are certified to various levels of firefighter and officer testing or certifications of the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control. These certifications include but are not limited to, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Officer I, Fire Officer II, Driver Operator Pumper, Driver Operator Aerial, Hazardous Materials Operations, and Hazardous Materials Technician. These certifications have been accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress.

All Chief Officers, Company Officers, and Acting Company Officers are also certified in the Blue Card Hazard Zone Management System. LFRA was one of the first departments in Colorado to implement the Blue Card certification Program which requires 50 hours of online instruction followed by 24 hours of fireground computer simulations.

Visit the Blue Card website to get more information on the certification.

LFRA Training is also proud to be the host agency for the Front Range Fire Consortium Fire Academy, providing essential training and resources to our community and beyond.
