Looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community?

Become a Volunteer Firefighter with Loveland Fire Rescue Authority (LFRA) and be part of something bigger. Our volunteers are essential to our mission - supporting emergency response, wildfire suppression, and community outreach across our diverse service area.

LFRA operates two volunteer-staffed fire stations that serve the residents of the Big Thompson Canyon and Cedar Park areas:

  • Station 8 - Located on Highway 34 at 1461 Big Thompson Road, Drake, CO
  • Station 9 - Located at the top of Storm Mountain at 100 Palisade Mountain Drive, Drake, CO

To be eligible for a volunteer firefighter position, all applicants must reside within the designated in-district area. This residency requirement ensures timely response.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 18 Years of age or older
  • Valid Driver's License with a safe driving record
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent education
  • A completed LFRA volunteer application
  • Must live in-district: to review the Map (PDF)

Additional Certifications Required After Recruitment

  • S-130/190, L-180 within 90 days of appointment
    • NIMS ICS 100/200/700/800 within 90 days of appointment
    • Current Healthcare Provider CPR Certification within 12 months of appointment
    • Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Certification within 12 months of appointment
    • Successful completion of a VFIS Emergent Drivers Training course
